New Moon in Leo - All Decks

Image
This tarot spread is focused on the energies of the New Moon in Leo, and yes it took a week to post it to the blog thanks to tech and health issues. I at least got the photos of the spreads done on the right day hehe.   I added all of my decks this month to see who had to say what and if the lighter energy decks agreed with the more severe decks. I also want to get some use with my Native tarot since I am doing a challenge with it in a few days.   Giger (shadow self) 1. Playful lioness- where/how can I be more playful in my life?   The   High Priestess This is the deep desire to connect with your unconscious and embodies the part of you that lies in dreams bringing dark insights. You are turning to creative forces of unconsciousness. 2. Rocky babe- Where should I use all that warrior energy? The Devil The Devil card in this deck is about using men as sex slaves to fulfill empty sexual desires. 3. Action star- Where do I need to take action? The E...

Tower

Image
"No matter how beautiful or great you become you will return to the sand. Alas, you can rebuild better than before, if you desire to work hard enough."  Keeping with my Mesopotamian influenced art, I used Etemenanki for The Tower. Etemenanki is believed to be the historical Tower of Babel. It was a beautiful 300 ft ziggurat faced in copper bricks that stood in the city of Babylon for centuries. It was destroyed and restored a few times before facing its ultimate destruction under Alexander the Great. He ordered it destroyed in order to be rebuilt, but his death left the project uncompleted. The people ultimately gave up on the ziggurat. This is a great building for The Tower because it was destroyed and rebuilt so many times, the foundation still remains in Iraq. The yods are still falling, all seems lost, but it can be rebuilt (sometimes greater than before) if you do not give up.

The Devil

"Beware the trappings of vices for they are your self-inflicted chains of bondage. Why be a slave to things that harm you when you can drop them and walk away?"  This card forced me out of the Mesopotamian Empire and into a more modern culture because a singular "devil" did not show up in their religion until Zoroastrian came about. Even to this day with Islam, their "Devil" is not an all around evil character, he is like all djinn, neutral. Here we see Ahriman mounted upon Azhi Dahaka. He is not evil incarnate at all times. He is chaotic neutral. He can come dressed as everything you need and want, he can help you with everything that will give you comfort, he can ask for nothing or everything in return, or he can ruin you out of sheer boredom. Azhi Dahaka is a wonder in himself; he is a chaos dragon who brings storms to the desert (such a benevolence), will grant money as a greed driven dragon, but being chaos aligned anything he grants can be giv...

My Wheel of Fortune

Image
"The Wheel of Fate forever turns. Sometimes you are the temple maiden awaiting your next patron, other times you're the ram having his liver ripped out to be read in divination. It is only when you are atop the wheel are you in balance. The only constant in life is the bearing of the wheel; your central Self, the Inner Eye, your soul. The beings around you await to help or devour you; their blank books waiting to have your fate written in them, all hinges upon your next move (or reaction to the next event)."  For the Wheel of Fortune I took inspiration off of three sources: Tarot de Marseille, Rider-Waite-Smith, and the Sumerian deities I work with. To the Marseille it was akin to a torture rack where a person is either raising, balanced, or crushed by the cycles of life. RWS has it more esoteric and balanced where things are ready for you to make a move and create your future. So I blended the two. My elements: In Sumerian lore the closest to The Wheel of Fortu...

Again Death?

Image
This is really not funny. Since 2015 I have been getting the Emporer in tarot spreads. In RWS it is "abusive, controlling, aggressive male. Get out now." I slough it off as my paranoia from events in my past. The in increasing numbers my death harbingers (there are more than one in my Sumerian Oracle) appear in spreads like death is approaching. What the f*** is this when my greatest fear happens and I die at the hands of the man I'm with? After a harsh night (emotionally and physically), Lenormand app's card of the day is... coffin. FML. If I wasn't feeling low enough to feel like "everyone is better off if I'm dead anyways," the cards are showing it as an impending thing. Wonderful. Better be something else, like the end of my food poisoning or end of some temp issues....

Women's Artist Group Oracle Readings

The past couple months at my women's artist meeting our group oracle readings read like a singular reading instead of several individuals with a card for themselves. It is cool how it is beginning to sync like that. June- Pasadena's group Connecting to your heart, do everything with your whole self Attune to your inner self, not labels (your biz cards, titles, credentials, etc) Embrace and bless the enemy; then they will entertain you instead of annoy you.  Shine your light.  July- Woodland Hill's group Intercept Self-Sabotage: Why are you punishing yourself?  Walk in Another's Shoes: When you feel that you are not being treated with the respect you feel that you deserve, you can either harden your heart or view the world through their eyes and open your eyes.  Go Back to Basics: Be compassionate with yourself, nourish your body, mind, and soul.  Lavish Love: The more love you give out, the more you will feel within. Tell people around you 50 th...

International Tarot Day

Image
For International Tarot Day I have decided to finish the deck mock up of my Sumerian Oracle cards. The following are the all of the new addition cards since the 2016 Inktober challenge that gave birth to the deck. There is one prayer card to Ba'al Shamash, as well as some expanded associations of some deities that I missed during the madness to get a deck done in 31 days.  I added in the Thaumitan card for readings. Next is to do more test reads as well as working the information and meanings. Then I will be buckling down into the semantics of doing the intricate paintings (what symbols, details, etc for each, sizes, etc). Hopefully within a year I'll be working on the paintings themselves. I'm becoming excited at the next phase of the process!
