Beltane Reading- Giger vs Sumerian

Happy Beltane for the Northern Hemi people and Samhain for the Souther Hemi people!

I decided to join in on doing a reading today as I work to reclaim this holiday away from memories of abusive men and failed marriages. I will be in a celebratory mood one of these years as their memories continue to fade and former wedding anniversaries (both first week in May!) fade into the black. I claim that day as a day that will happen! But for now, I did the reading that was created by Ethony for her study group.

Giger

for shadow readings

1. Primrose- What do I need to heal? The Wheel of Fortune
This card helps restrict your goals and helps you take a realistic approach so that your goals are obtainable. (ie don't think so big so quickly, make smaller goals that you can achieve quicker)
2. Rowan- What do I need to take responsibility for? Alchemy
Your inner expectations are not in line with reality, as much as you do not want to admit it you are suppressing reality in favor of your wishful thinking. You have a strong aversion to conflict so you would rather view them under a different light so you do not need to confront them.
3. Hawthorn- How can I get unstuck? The Sun
This card is about finding your footing and using that fiery feminine force of creation within to give life to your desires. Find that wild woman inside and let her out.
4. Gorse- What do I need to give up on?  Justice
It symbolizes the resistance you put up against your feelings, for it embodies reality that because of the need to create clarity for yourself concerning the tasks you have to perform and your goals and to attain clear judgement you suppress your feelings.
5. Hazel- What limitations do I still believe?  The Fool
The constant search for the unreachable and unattainable goals. You allow yourself to become possessed by your inner yearnings to live out your emotional needs only at a higher level since you give up any orientation towards wordly goals by transcending you material objectives. This leads o a dreamy, cloudy thought pattern that interferes with your relationship with those around you. On the other hand, this leads to development of your Higher Self if you can obtain one of those lofty goals.
6. Marigold- Where can I shine? The Hermit
Excessive demands of the outside world force you to look inwards and retreat within yourself. (dude, how many times will I pull this, Hanged Man, or Star in a year?!)

So ... be more realistic about goal setting for the immediate future, be more realistic about expectations and less head in the priesthood, pull within to heal that wild woman that never got the freedom to develop. Dig into those lower chakras!

 Sumerian Oracle

1. Primrose- What do I need to heal? Ušumgallu (malice)
This aspect of Ušumgallu is using her venomous fire for malefic rites. I suppose I need to go on the offensive against enemies in order to heal. (?)
2. Rowan- What do I need to take responsibility for? Kulullû (aquatic familiars)
Again with the aquatic familiar card. Maybe my fish is feeling less than cared for because he doesn't have an elaborate set up like the others and due to some stress he got less love the past week than in others? Yes Void, I promised you a better tank, I'm working on it.
3. Hawthorn- How can I get unstuck? Ušumgallu (healing)
I had pulled the aspects of Ušumgallu apart for clarity and funny enough, there both are in the same reading. This is the healing aspect, her venomous fire burns out what ails you and creates a protective shield around you. So to heal I need to go on the attack and to un-stick myself I need to protect myself, both offered by the same deity whom I'm close to.... interesting correlation especially with current developments.
4. Gorse- What do I need to give up on? Kusarikku (protection)
This is his protection and guardian aspect. Also, this is not the first spread saying I should give up protection... what in the?
5. Hazel- What limitations do I still believe? Mušuššu (harbinger of death; fearless killer)
And the fearless killer/ harbinger of death shows up again, I haven't fleshed out a meaning for this aspect so aside from knowing that is the aspect I don't know a deeper meaning. I suppose I am limiting myself in believing I am to die? Am I worried about the last two readings that showed I'm going to be killed so it contributed to some kind of limiting factor for me? Is this just a warning of a major enemy?
6. Marigold- Where can I shine? Ūmu Dabrūtu (destruction)
Why yes I do shine when I dance among the storms! I guess if I have to get dirty as suggested earlier in the reading, I might as well use storm to wrought destruction upon whoever has been hitting me. Without fail I pull this card within days of a storm landing in the area. Being a drought area and NOT in rain season this is kind of an exciting correlation for me. It's like I can tell this being is near through the card pulls.
